I want to kick off this blog by building a foundation. It makes sense to explain why the name A Rooted Woman was chosen, because the reasons behind it will shape everything written here and is a building block for everything else.

First, let’s visit the Book of Psalms — specifically Psalm 1:3:

3 He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.

The title of this blog, the logo, and the content are all based on this verse. As women who have surrendered our lives to the lordship of Christ, we are like trees planted and firmly rooted — nourished by the Living Water, bearing fruit for His glory. We do not wither, but rather we prosper — not because of our own strength or wisdom, but because of who we are rooted in: Christ.

This blog is a collaboration between three women in different seasons of life and faith. Each of us brings a different perspective, focus, and voice to the content you will find here.

In the early stages of this project, we each wrote about what it means to be a rooted woman. I want to share a few excerpts from each of us to give you a clearer picture of where we go from here.

Esther

“A rooted woman is anchored in God’s Word because she knows it is the only true and steady foundation.”

“We stand firm when Scripture shapes our thoughts, our emotions, and our decisions.”

Sherri

“To be a rooted woman is to remain steady when the seasons around us change.”

“Much of God’s work in us happens underground, where no one sees — just like the root system of a healthy tree.”

Jenn

“A rooted woman knows who she is in Christ — that identity is her anchor, not her feelings.”

“When our roots go deep into the truth of Scripture, we will not be carried away by every shifting wind.”

One recurring theme in all three of our writings is the emphasis on being firmly grounded in the Word of God. Psalm 1:2 says:

but his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

Our goal — our mission — with this project is, first and foremost, to exalt our Lord. This is not about us, but about Him. Our desire is to point you to Christ, to encourage you from the Scriptures, and to help you along the way to be a rooted woman. We all have a heart for discipleship and for helping other Christian women grow in discernment, wisdom, knowledge, and love for God.

We invite you along for the journey.
